Home Base: WNRB, Wausau, Wisconsin

Before I go any further, I guess I should say something about my "homebase."
I am a volunteer at WNRB, a LPFM station sponsored by Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.  The college has been absolutely wonderful to us and put us light years ahead of where we would be if we were simply a community group [...]

It Takes Audacity to Say That!

Now I find it hard to believe that anyone working in community radio or podcasting does not know about this very nice software tool, but that is what a blog if to share information people already know.
Audacity is a free, open source, cross platform sound editor that is available here. Whether you [...]

Get Your Toolkit!

Community radio is not just a concern here in the United States, it is a worold wide movement.  Here in the US, community radio is needed to present a different point of view from the corporate controlled media.  But in other places in the world, local media is needed to disseminate information where it is [...]

Department of Radio and Television

Another form of local media that has exisited for years, is public access television.  PAT is one of those good news/bad news things.  The good news is that communities get pretty much free production facilities and almost unlimited air time.  The bad news is that the "air" time isn't air time, it is cable time.

WHYS 96.3 Eau Claire Community Radio

Here is yet another community station up and running!  Here is their homepage.
You might also want to check out their on-air schedule.  It looks very nice and ecelectic as a good radio station should. They don't seem to have a stream, so if you want to listen to them, you wil have to [...]

Northland College Radio 97.7

WRNC is a LPFM station at Northland College, which bills itself as one of "America's leading environmental colleges."  Which sound perfectly wonderful to me.   Here is the college website.
The have a homepage on the college's website, with a link to streaming audio.
The college homepage does not have much information, but a complete schedule [...]

WPCA-LP, 95.7 FM, Amery, Wisconsin

I was hoping to find a website for as many Wisconsin community stations as possible to give some idea of what they are up to. Unfortunately I was not able to find one for this station, but I did find these really cool photos of their studio here.

Wisconsin LPFM Stations

Here is a link to the same information I just posted below: LPFM Scoreboard
It has the kind of formatting I was trying to achieve, so check it out.
Check back soon for links to various webpages of LPFM and Community Radio Stations.

Wisconsin LPFM Stations

Well, it is not the formatting I had planned on, but here is the list of LPFM Stations in Wisconsin, as per the FCC database a few days ago. After the frequency is the status of the license. “LIC” is fully licensed, “CP” is Construction Permit, “APP” is applied for, and MOD indicates that there [...]
